Ballarat gets cold wet winters and a lot of clay. Water that has nowhere to go sits, and it will find the slab, the shed or the lowest corner of the lawn every time.

We work out where the water is coming from and where it can legally go, then set the fix accordingly. That might be a channel drain across the driveway or alfresco, ag-pipe through a wet section of lawn, a sump pit and pump on a block with nowhere to fall, or simply regrading the surface so it sheds.

Drainage is invisible once it is done, which is exactly why it gets skipped. It is also the single thing that decides whether the paving, the walls and the lawn above it last.

Why is my backyard always boggy?

Usually clay subsoil with no fall and nowhere for the water to discharge. Ag-pipe through the wet section plus a regrade normally fixes it without needing to dig up the whole yard.

Can water damage my house slab?

Yes. Water sitting hard against a slab causes movement over time. Getting a fall away from the house and a drain in front of the problem area is cheap compared to the alternative.
